North Korea imprisoned entire family, including a two-year-old child for life after a Bible was discovered in their possession

 International Religious Freedom Report claims that a family was given a life sentence when a Bible was found in their possession, including a two-year-old child.

The US State Department's International Religious Freedom Report 2022, which details the regime's repression of those who hold religious views, made this occurrence public knowledge.

Inmates in North Korea have reportedly been imprisoned for "being Christians" in numbers between 50,000 and 70,000, according to a non-governmental organization (NGO) report.

According to the story, a two-year-old who was apparently given a life sentence after his parents were discovered to be in possession of a Bible was among the many people imprisoned. Due to their religious practices and ownership of a Bible, the family was detained. In 2009, the entire family, including with a two-year-old, was given a life term in a political prison camp.

Christians who have been held in these camps have spoken of the appalling conditions and severe physical abuses. According to the report, 90% of reported violations of human rights against both Shamanic practitioners and Christians and followers.

The State Department claims that the North Korean government targets people who practice religion, own religious objects, interact with religious people, or hold religious beliefs, citing a report by Korea Future, a non-profit organization "working to accelerate justice and support accountability" in North Korea. Persecuted people may be imprisoned, forced to work, tortured, denied a fair trial, deported, deprived of their right to life, or the target of sexual assault.

A report detailing North Korea's misuse of religious freedom against women was published in December 2021 by Korea Future. Interviews with 151 abused Christian women served as the basis for the report. According to the report, the most typical abuses included arbitrary detention, torture, deportation, forced labor, and sexual violence .
