I don’t believe in marriage, I was almost married but I called it off – Actress, Mellisa Osagie says

Mellisa Osagie, a Nigerian actress, declared that she does not support the notion of marriage.

I don't believe in the concept of marriage, Mellisa Osagie said in an interview with Saturday Beats.

I almost got married, but I canceled. I support the notion of friendship. If a couple gets along, a ring is not necessary to signify a committed relationship. It does not support marital unions.

"Marriage as an institution has to do with bearing kids," Osagie remarked in reference to the problem of older women who are counseled to have children outside of marriage when marriage is not forthcoming. Whether one is married or not, having children is crucial. Even if it has to be done through surrogacy, if not for now, then at least for old age.

She mentioned some of the compromises she has had to make in her relationships, saying, "The compromise I have made is giving my time. You can invest time, but you'll never get a return. I have only ever been in a relationship for four years. Nothing could be taken away from that connection. Simply said, I got over it.”
