Where is your Hijab”- Reactions as Mercy Aigbe counts down to Easter days after converting to Islam


 Days after converting to Islam, Hajia Meenah Mercy Aigbe started the Easter celebration countdown. 


For an Easter promotion, Mercy Aigbe posted a video to her Instagram profile promoting her apparel line.


She wrote, “Counting Down to Easter 💃….. and I am so glad to announce to y’all that our Easter Collection is now in Store.”

Several people responded to this video in beautiful ways, praising Mercy Aigbe's poise and elegance. A fan, however, criticized the actress for not wearing a headscarf.


Alhaja, hijab yin da” translated to “Alhaja, where is your hijab?”

Nigerians Trolls Mercy Aigbe for Blasting INEC And Her Colleagues

Actress Mercy Aigbe has come under fire from Nigerians on social media for criticizing both the Independent National Electoral Commission and her coworkers. 

Mercy Aigbe voiced her opinion about the raging turmoil between her coworkers on social media and the continual change of the same group of people in positions of authority online. 

Mercy Aigbe advised her colleagues not to sell their consciences to their oppressors but to present a united front for the good of the nation. 

She also urged INEC to take the necessary action with relation to the electoral process.


She wrote, “As public Figures, what we should do is put up a united front and stand for the betterment of Nigeria! But some people have sold their conscience to the Devil!!! If you are still supporting our oppressors, those who put us in this state! You are an enemy of Nigeria @inecnigeria we dey wait!!! Enough is Enough.”



Mercy Aigbe also made fun of the ex-governors of Nigeria who are now serving in the Senate. 

The actress argued that new perspectives are needed and that former governors should not be allowed to sit in on legislative sessions again.



She wrote ;

What I don’t understand is all these Ex-Governors going back to Senate! Is government their inheritance??? What is it? Abeg, we want fresh minds!!! I think a policy should be put in place to ban all ex governors from running for office again jare! All of them kuku just go there for their selfish interest! Enough already!”
