I feel so worried when I look at the rate at which young ones insult elders on social media – Dele Odule

Dele Odule, a seasoned Yoruba actor, has expressed his concern on social media about the rising rate of contempt among young people towards their elders.

The actor expressed his concern over the way young people abuse seniors on social media in a recent video posted on his Instagram page.

According to him, "I feel so troubled and it calls for conscience when I look at the rate the young people of today mistreat elders on social media.

Do we really mean to claim that this child lacks parental guidance? Or do we state that the father and the child(ren) in question belong to the same philosophical school? because a baby is raising a baby in this ear.

Dele Odule’s post has since generated mixed reactions from her followers.

See the video and reactions below:

_To be honest this idea of we can not correct the elders has spoilt so many things sir , as someone who has elders at home u will only talk or be critical of elders in a constructive manner. Also note that not all elders are actually elders infants are more sensible than some . Especially in the political 🌎, well said n kudos to your view sir .

– infact even me sometimes I asked this question? most of them lack m*nners …. misusing social medias anyhow…. u have said it all sir, baby parenting babies… 👏👏

– Sir, I really do appreciate your knowledge and your level of engagement on this medium. Sir, thank you for touching on this topic, and I see where you’re speaking from Sir. What I want to stress out here, Sir, is that yes, we can say we are a situation where children’s are parenting children’s. Time has changed, and Tech has brought the world under a small globe. Most of the young generation now have awareness. In a country where Elders in Government have continuously failed the young ones and they are the ones bringing in money and feeding their families, then they have been weaponised and will be rude/ abusive towards older people. Sir, there is a real problem oooo. Where parents are feeble to hustle, they are striving. When Government are busy stealing public funds, its unthinkable. That structure to Instill discipline in kids aren’t there anymore, no educational system, policing and upholding arms of the law is zero. Sir until the country gets it’s bearing and good governance in place, the wound on the face of the elders will not heal ooooo. I hope I made a little sense Sir. Thank you.

– I really love you sir, you are an inspiration to a whole generation. Although I don’t support insulting the elders in any form, we all have to realize that the elders of Nigeria have failed the youth, people are leaving the country by the thousands, the elders demanding respects have to realize that respect is actually earned. Yoruba says ” An elder that ties a robe of corn, he is a joke to chickens 🐔 ” any elder that has been involved in looting the country has no right to demand respect.

– Daddy all you have said are food for thoughts.( Eni ti oba leti Ko gbo ohun ti emi n so)…my point is that, some elders behave many a times younger than their age all In the name of self awareness just to be on social Media meanwhile stepping on younger ones toes….again not everything an elder should reply to especially on social media instead just lookaway so as to not drag your name to the mud. But some elders would want to talk not minding response of the younger ones…..pls daddy also do a video to address some elders that behave like kids especially on social media. God bless you daddy @deleodule_
